My Practice

Hello, I’m Saara, and I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy sessions for adults. I am a qualified therapist registered with BACP.

I offer sessions in person and online. In person sessions take place in Brixton, Body and Mind Centre SW2 5UL.

My background encompasses support and care work in the charity and social work sectors. I have experience in helping individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, self-harm, health anxiety, PTSD, and various mental health challenges.

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London and also work as a Social Work Reflective Practice Practitioner, supporting social workers with self-reflection and wellbeing.

My approach includes tailoring therapy to meet your specific needs. As an integrative therapist, I use various therapeutic approaches and techniques, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps develop more helpful thinking and coping skills by exploring thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

  • Psychodynamic therapy focuses on exploring and resolving unconscious conflicts and patterns from the past.

  • Radical acceptance encourages letting go of resistance and finding peace in challenging circumstances.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps in accepting difficult thoughts and feelings while aligning actions with personal values.

  • In addition to these, I also draw from other approaches and concepts that can support you in understanding relationship dynamics, processing grief, managing internal conflicts, and developing new strategies and goal setting. This includes Transactional Analysis, Grief theories, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Therapy. It is essential to note that I prioritise your safety and aim to be trauma-informed in my approach, ensuring your individual needs are respected.

My values include…..

Person - centred

Being person-centred means that we proceed at your pace, building a strong therapeutic relationship and utilising techniques that best suit your goals. I listen deeply without judgment, creating a comfortable space for you to discuss your experiences.

Self empowerment

I believe that you are the expert of your life, and my role is to guide and support you in processing your thoughts and feelings to develop a better understanding of the behaviours and experiences that trouble you. This aims to empower you to make positive changes (if needed), and nurture acceptance, ultimately leading to an improved sense of well-being.

Inclusively

I value inclusivity and have experience working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds. I recognise that we are all unique, with our own identities. I will strive to sensitively understand your culture, beliefs, identities, values, and experiences, among other factors that are relevant to you. This aims to create a safe and inclusive space.
